Doris Jean Ellason (nee Hager), age 64, received her angel wings on June 14, 2019. Her final days, like her life, were spent surrounded by loving family and friends that Doris had touched in meaningful and loving ways throughout life.
Doris was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt and friend to many who was loved and will be missed by many.
Born March 4, 1955, in PecksMill, W. Va., Doris was the second oldest of six children born to William Ralph Hager and Agnes Faye (nee Dingess) Hager.
In 1967, Doris’ family relocated to Cleveland to follow her father’s work.
While regularly attending church at the West Side Gospel Tabernacle, Doris met and began dating the love of her life, Harlie Dennis “Denny” Ellason in 1971. Following her graduation from South High School in Cleveland in 1973, she and Denny were married Sept. 1, 1973 at Charity Freewill Baptist.
Doris and Denny lived in Lakewood and Euclid before eventually making their home in Munson Township.
While Denny worked, Doris spent her time as a homemaker and enjoyed spending her free time baking, decorating and enjoying her many nieces and nephews. She loved the Christmas holidays and was known for passion and fondness for decorating during the holiday season.
Survivors include her husband, Harlie “Denny”; and sisters Theresa Green, Laura Chevrier; brother, William Ralph Hager II; and more than a dozen nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two of her sisters, Carolyn Sue Wilcox and Wilma Faye Struhar.
A viewing and memorial service took place at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, on June 18, 2019, beginning at 4 p.m., with the memorial service starting at 6 p.m. A reception was held at Burr Funeral Home following the service.
