Lowell Russell Crane

CHARDON – Lowell Russell “Russ” Crane, age 79, of Chardon, died unexpectedly Nov. 9, 2018, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.

Born May 18, 1939, in Quinwood, W. Va., to Loftis and Hettie (nee Meadows) Crane, Russ was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish.

He and his family built their log home from the ground up. He was a gardener, beekeeper, woodworker and archer. Russ loved making bows and arrows for family and friends.

A 1957 graduate of Chardon High School, he retired from Ford Motor Company, Walton Hills, after 30 years.

After his retirement he enjoyed his time working at Lake Metroparks.

Russ is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sydney (nee Yurkschatt) Crane; sons, Lowell (Jane), of Anchorage, Alaska, and Leonard (Pam), of Toivola, Mich.; grandchildren, Brandon (Julia), of Avon, Megan (Peter) Croke, of Tremont, Nathan and Ian, of Negaunee, Mich.; and great-granddaughter, Cecilia Pearl.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, from 4-6 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, with a celebration of his life to follow at 6 p.m.
