Jeanne Elizabeth (Tebbe) Bidgood, age 101, went home to the Lord on Oct. 19, 2017, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.
She was born in Plymouth, Ohio, on Oct. 13, 1916, and moved to Cleveland when she was nine.
Jeanne graduated from Shaw High School, in 1934, attended the East Cleveland School of Business and worked at the Weathertite Company in downtown Cleveland.
She married Paul Wilfred Bidgood in East Cleveland on Jan. 1, 1937.
After her husband’s service in World War II, the family moved to Chardon, where she devoted herself to home and family.
In 1958, she went to work for Charles Hall Insurance, in Chardon, and later the Bass Lake Community, Inc. for 24 years until her retirement in 1984.
Paul and Jeanne moved to a second home in Lakeside, Ohio, where they lived until their return to Chardon in 1987.
Jeanne was a member of Chardon United Methodist Church for more than 68 years and was active in Deborah Circle. She was a member of Chardon Kiwanis, Order of the Eastern Star and Progress Research Club.
She volunteered at the Chardon Municipal Court for more than 13 years.
Her hobbies included reading, cooking, home decorating and collecting antiques.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Beverly (Frank) Zammataro, of Streetsboro, Paulette (Kenneth) Loofboro, of Unionville, Steve (Judy) Bidgood, of Chardon; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul, of 63 years; and sister, Helen Helser.
Jeanne’s family gratefully acknowledges the loving care provided by Dr. Bradley Moritz, devoted caregiver Jan Bertliff and The Residence of Chardon.
Burr Funeral Home in Chardon is handling arrangements.
A private family celebration of life was held, with interment at Whitehaven Cemetery.
