CHARDON – Solomon Ellsworth Harper Sr., age 77, of Chardon, died Oct. 23, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Seven Hills.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1940, in Hacker Valley, W. Va., to Noah and Flora Jane (nee Williams), and married Jacqueline Tina Brown at the Painesville Baptist Church on Aug. 9, 1961.
Solomon had lived in Chardon area since 1954, before moving to Seven Hills.
He had worked for Spear Motor Sales for 28 years, then for Junction Auto Sales, retiring in September of 2010.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting deer, turkey and squirrel, and was a life member of the NRA and a longtime member of the Willo-Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline, of Chardon; daughters, Donna (Gary) Reeder, of Guyton, Ga., Elizabeth “Libby” Harper, of Seven Hills, and Rebecca “Becky” (James) Doty, of Hambden Township; son, Solomon (Deena) Harper Jr., of Hambden Township; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and sister Kathrean Harper, of Fairport Harbor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and three brothers and nine sisters.
Visitation is Oct. 25, from 6-8 p.m., and Oct. 26, from 10-11 a.m., with the funeral services at 11 a.m. at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Interment in Hambden Township Cemetery.
