Ida A. Vargo

CHARDON – Ida A. Vargo (nee McGurer), 87, of Chardon, went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.

Ida was born Oct. 29, 1929, in Chardon, the daughter of Clayton and Ida McGurer, and attended Chardon Schools.

Ida married Steve Vargo on Oct. 26, 1945, in Jefferson.

She was a waitress for years at Junction Restaurant and Bill and Syl’s Restaurant. She then worked at Notre Dame in Munson Township for 19 years, until her retirement in 1989.

She also served on Aquilla Village Council for many years.

Ida is survived by her husband of 70 years; sons, Lester (Joyce) Vargo, of Mesopotamia, and Dennis (Susan) Vargo, of Middlefield; 10 grandchildren, Rachel (Brian) Dean, of Bristolville, Stacey (Tony) Sole, of Chardon, Tammy (Joseph Jr.) Pavlic, of Kinsman, Christina (Joseph) Walsh, of Middlefield, Gary (Hollie) Randell, of Orwell, Richard (Kristen) Randell, of Arizona, Amber (Dan) Earls, of Colebrook, Devyn (Dominic) Maniglia, of Burton, Breanne (Derek) Ashba, of Middlefield, Dakota (Tasha Mann) Vargo, of Chardon; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Her parents, Clayton and Ida McGurer; sisters, Betty Shaffer and Leora Johnson; and brothers, Lester McGurer, Lawrence McGurer and Junior McGurer preceded her in death.

Ida was a member of Word of Faith Church in Chardon.

She loved to garage sale, talk on the phone with her friends, and spend time with her family, but so enjoyed when the great-grandchildren would come to visit.

Her family and friends will dearly miss her.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Aquilla Village Hall in Aquilla Village, 65 Turner Drive, Chardon.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Ida’s memory to Parkside Care Corps, 831 South St., Chardon, OH 44024.
