GENEVA – Norman Phillips, of Geneva, passed away Dec. 17, 2015, at Geneva Shores. He was 88.
Born March 15, 1927, in Cleveland, to John and Elsie (nee Berends) Phillips, Norman spent his entire life in Newbury.
He was a mechanic and had his own auto repair business, Central Auto Repair, which he ran for many years, after which he worked for Newbury Township until his retirement.
Norman was a World War II and Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Newbury American Legion Post 663 for over 50 years.
Nothing gave Norman more pride than his 1923 Model T pickup and trailer, which he restored and drove around town with his dog, Daisy.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann (nee Johnson), of Orange City, Fla.; daughter, Linda (Jack) Henderson, of Salem; sons, Douglas (Emma), of Dupont, Wash., and Michael (Sheri), of Mountain City, Tenn.; grandchildren, April and Ammanfil; and brother Leslie Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Alice and Thelma; brothers John, Richard and Raymond; and his dog, Daisy.
Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2016, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, followed by a memorial service at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
