MUNSON TWP. – Joseph S. Szuszkiewicz, of Munson Township, died Dec. 16, 2015, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. He was 92.
Born in Cleveland, on Oct. 5, 1923, Joe was raised in Geauga County by Yaro and Mary Divoky.
He attended Chardon High School, then worked for over 68 years with Local Union No. 310 of the Laborers International Union of North American.
During World War II, Joe served as a PFC in the United States Marine Corps, participating in battles in the Bismark Archipelago and Bougainville Island in the Solomon Islands.
On Oct. 12, 1946, Joe married Elizabeth Tvergyak at the Church of St. Mary in Chardon.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, of Munson; sons, Joe M. (Patty), of Loveland, Ohio, and Jim (Marge), of Chardon; grandchildren, Adam (Lyndsey), of Columbus, Kathy (Justin) Sebastian, of Highland Heights, Ky., and Jimmy and Melissa, both of Chardon.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church, 12060 Kinsman Road, Newbury Township, on Dec. 21 at 10 a.m.
Interment at Maple Hill Cemetery in Munson.
