Lowell “Jay” Sage passed away Feb. 8, 2017, at his home.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1936, in Chardon. After graduating from Chardon High School, he joined the Navy and served from June 24, 1954, to July 5, 1977. He was a Senior Chief Petty Officer (YNCS).
He is survived by his three children, Simon D. Sage (Kathleen), Timothy J. Sage and Adam J. Sage; and four step-children, Marc R. Ellison, Elizabeth T. Ellison, Laura H. Ellison and Paul T. Ellison.
He is also survived by his loving partner, Helga Wick; and brother Tom Sage (Eileen); and sister-in-law, Sandy Sage.
He has numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Margaret Sage; brother Doug Sage; and step-daughter, Christina Goode.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Pilgrim Christian Church, with memorial service at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pilgrim Christian Church Food Pantry.
Private burial will be at Chardon Municipal Cemetery at a later date.
