CHARDON – Isabelle H. Kavaras, age 80, of Chardon, passed away Oct. 19, 2016, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.
Born March 12, 1936, in Cleveland, to Jess and Helen (nee Antel) Horvath, she had been a longtime area resident.
Isabelle Horvath married Allen N. Kavaras, on Aug. 15, 1959, at St. Margaret of Hungary in Cleveland. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1991.
Isabelle spent many hours volunteering at St. Mary in Chardon, being a homeroom mother, working in the office and starting the bereavement program at the church.
She enjoyed reading, gardening and needle stich, making needle stich gifts for friends and family.
Isabelle enjoyed comedy and loved to laugh, always having a positive outlook on life.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen (Rocky Vance) Kavaras, of Chardon, and Jeannie (Denny) Jacobs, of Jefferson; grandchildren, Megan H. M. and Mason R. A. Jacobs, of Jefferson; siblings, George (Caroline) Horvath, of Dover, Ohio, Marjorie Brewer, of Amherst, and Barbara Lester, of Parma; in-laws, Robert Kavaras, of Hambden Township, and Regina Niznik, of Madison; and many extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24 at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon, with a private family burial to take place at All Souls Cemetery.
