On Saturday, Sept, 23, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., please join the family of William C. “Bill” Angstrom at Burton Congregational Church, 14558 West Park St., Burton, for a celebration of his life.
Immediately following the service, a continuation of the celebration will be held in the Social Hall of the First Congregational Church of Claridon, 13942 Mayfield Road, Claridon Township, where fellowship, memories and stories of Bill can be shared.
Bill passed peacefully to be with God on Sept. 17, 2020, at the age of 80 after a courageous three-year battle with esophageal cancer.
Bill and his immediate family are so very thankful for all the love, support and prayers bestowed upon all of them during his illness and since his passing.
Bill grew up in North Bloomfield and graduated from Burton High School. He then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in wildlife management, and on to Cuyahoga Community College to study computers. He made a career as a systems analyst/programmer.
During his entire lifetime he was an avid wood craftsman, traveler and fisherman. His favorite fishing trips were to Alaska, in particular two trips with his lifelong best friend, John Shadduck.
In addition to fishing, Bill loved Bluegrass music, the outdoors, nature and wildlife. He had a strong work ethic and an innate ability to engineer anything.
He is preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Nell Fenselon; parents, Harold Sr. and Mabel Angstrom; and in-laws, Ralph and Alta Randles.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 60-plus years, Linda (nee Randles) Angstrom; son, William R. Angstrom, of Chagrin Falls; and daughter, Connie Hanzlik, and son-in-law, Michael, of Clearwater, Fla. Also, he leaves behind his brother, Harold “Bud” Angstrom, of Andover, Ohio; sister, Nancy Rodgers, of North Bloomfield; and his many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, it was Bill’s wish that donations be made to either the First Congregational Church of Claridon (www.claridoncongregational.com, 13942 Mayfield Road, Huntsburg, OH 44046); or to North Bloomfield Historical Society (www.bloomfieldohiohistory.org, P.O. Box 94, North Bloomfield, OH 44450).
Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield, (440) 632-0241, is handling arrangements.
