Richard Allen Inghram, born Jan. 27, 1927, loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away June 13, 2023, at the age of 96.
Richard grew up in Mayfield Heights and enjoyed playing football, basketball and golf. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army for two years, fully in charge of a combat squad and athletic director for men.
He returned home to marry his high school sweetheart and current wife, Dorothy Davis. After they were married, Richard received a certificate of completion from Cooper School of Art in Cleveland and was quite talented in painting, lettering and design. He always had an artistic flare to his creations and thoroughly enjoyed decorating for events and holidays.
Richard’s real passion was work, especially building and developing property. He created several multi-home projects with private drives and roads in Geauga County, and was the lead carpenter on most of his projects.
Richard was always a hard worker with a willingness to teach and mentor others. He encouraged others to build things and work with their hands.
Next to working, Richard’s second passion was golf. He found his way onto the famous Pebble Beach Golf course in California and also played in a tournament at Saint Andrews in Scotland with his son-in-law Martin Allard.
Richard attributed his long life to his love of work and Dorothy’s good cooking. He was strong and active to his final days.
Richard is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Richard Jr., Randall, Ramie and Reid; grandchildren, Richard III, William, Amy, Brandon and Marli; step-grandchildren, Kera, Robbie and Amber; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Malarie and Calvin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gregg; mother, Anne; and brother, Wallace.
