Marilyn Helena Friedel

HAMBDEN TWP. – Marilyn Helena Friedel, age 79, of Hambden Township, died peacefully at Blossom Hill Nursing Home on March 22, 2022.

Born Oct. 7, 1942, in Cleveland, Marilyn grew up in Cleveland with her sister and mother. She graduated Jane Adams Vocational High School in 1960 at the age of 17.

She was the mother of four children who she loved dearly. Marilyn took much pride in hosting family gatherings, holidays and other events. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She loved to swim, bowl, camp and cook with her family. She was very active in St. Mary Catholic Church events and community.

Marilyn was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She was a lifelong lover of animals and leaves behind her beloved dog, Xander.

Survivors include her children, Christina (Ronald) Dunning, of Chardon Township, Michael Friedel, of Chardon, John Friedel, of Chardon, and Ryan (Elizabeth) Friedel, of Concord Township; sister, Vi Fierman; and cousin, Shirley McMeechan.

She also leaves her grandchildren, Aaron, Devin, Brittany, Emily (Nick) Mowen, Megan; great-grandson, Cooper; brother-in-law Arthur (Alice) Friedel, of North Olmsted; and sister-in-law, Marge Friedel.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, William; mother, Helen Bene; daughter-in-law, Rosemarie (nee Mantegna) Friedel; and brother-in-law Lee Fierman.

Family will receive friends March 31, 2022, from 4-7 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be April 1, 2022 at 10 a.m., at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.

In lieu of flowers, family request that donations be made to the Geauga Park District, 9160 Robinson Road, Chardon, OH 44024; or St. Mary Catholic Church of Chardon, 401 North St., Chardon, OH 44024.
