MESOPOTAMIA – Sharon M. Chilson, age 68, of Mesopotamia, passed away June 12, 2016, at Briar Hill Health Care in Middlefield.
She was born on May 6, 1948, in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., daughter of Carl and Dorothy (nee Slusher) Highlander.
Sharon married David Chilson on Aug. 20, 1967, and was a homemaker.
Sharon worked at Middlefield Midcor, White Brothers, Conley’s Dept. Store and at Mary Yoder’s Amish Kitchen.
Her greatest joy was her family and enjoyed being involved with organizations.
She was a member of the Mesopotamia Volunteer Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and the Fire Department Association. She also was a member of Mesopotamia United Methodist Church, Mapleview Mennonite Church and the Red Hat Society.
She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, teaching swimming and a partner in the “Mespo Kids playground” organization.
Her family and friends will miss her. Her survivors are her beloved husband, David A. Chilson; three sons, William A. (Cheri) Chilson, Stephen A. (Amanda) Chilson and John D. (Marlo) Chilson; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; mother, Dorothy Highlander; brothers and sisters Betty Copper, Benson Highlander, Carl Highlander, Brian Highlander, Shirley Vanslyke, James Highlander, Brenda Wilson and Tammy Hill.
She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Highlander; and two sisters, Della Burns and Barbara Chancey.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. July 9, with visitation from 12 p.m. until the service time at Maple View Mennonite Church, 14890 Burton Windsor Road, Burton.
In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to the Sharon Chilson Memorial Fund at the Middlefield Banking Company.
