Lois Craig picTAMARAC, FL – Lois Craig, loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in her home on June 21, 2016, in Tamarac, Fla., at the age of 95.

She was married to Herbert Craig for 71 years. She and her husband lived in Middlefield for 68 years and lived on No Name Key in Florida for 32 years, during the winter.

She enjoyed sewing, gardening, volunteer work and traveling. She and her husband went to Alaska seven times and celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a trip to Hawaii.

Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Middlefield, an associate member of The Big Pine Methodist Church on Big Pine Key, Fla., the team leader for Ecumenical Women’s Day of Prayer on Big Pine Key for several years and a member of United Methodist Women and taught third grade Sunday school for 30 years.

She was among a small group of women who were instrumental in establishing a community hospital in Geauga County. She served as president of Women’s Auxiliary of Geauga Community Hospital from 1962-63 and led the Middlefield Auxiliary Chapter in the 1950s to 1980s, and volunteered at the hospital from 1960 to 1986.

In 1977, Lois received “Hall of Fame Service Award for Hospital Service” from The Delta Kappa Gamma Tri-Chapter International Society.

She was a 4-H Club Advisor in the 1950s and 1960s, and represented Geauga County at National 4-H Club Congress in Washington, D.C., in the fall of 1964.

She was a marshal of the Clover Chapter 201 of the Order of Eastern Star in 1968-69.

She was a board member of the American Heart Association from 1968-1974. She was also a member of Cardinal PTA, Cardinal Band Boosters and United Appeal in Middlefield.

She is survived by her son Herbert E. Craig III, of Kearney, Neb.; daughters, Mary Stepelton (Donald), Rev. Peggy Hostetler (Chick Treciak) and (Lois) Ann Seliskar, all of Florida; grandchildren, Eric Hostetler, of Florida, Angela Reilly (John), of Virginia, Stephanie Seliskar, of New York, and Suzanne Seliskar Axel (Adam), of New Jersey; nephews, Rev. Robert McMillen, of Indiana, William McMillen, of Texas, and Clifford Craig, of Ohio; and niece, Linda Liptak, of Illinois.

Her parents, Robert and Lucy McMillen; husband, Herbert E. Craig; son, Robert T. Craig; and brother, Harold McMillen, preceded her in death.

Calling hours are 6-9 p.m. June 30 at Russell-Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 West High St., Middlefield.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. July 1 at First United Methodist Church of Middlefield, 14999 S. State Ave., Middlefield.
