Robert O. Smolik, age 95, died Dec. 13, 2021, at Thistle House in Chardon.
Born March 18, 1926, in Newburgh Heights, Ohio, to Andrew and Lillian (nee Vorchak) Smolik, he was a lifelong resident of Munson Township and was fondly known as “Bob of Munson.”
Robert was a World War II veteran, proudly serving in the U.S. Navy in the Philippine Islands.
He retired from the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, where he was a supervisor.
He was a member of the Chesterland Baptist Church and the Ashlar Lodge #639 F & AM.
He enjoyed playing the button box, but his greatest enjoyment was his family.
Robert is survived by his son, Garry T. (Pamela); and grandson, Tyler Logan (Holly Ann) Graves.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Roberta (nee Root); second wife, Jean (nee McLean); and brother, Roy J. (Genevieve) Smolik.
The family will receive friends Dec. 16, 2021, from 4-7 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
Funeral service will be held Dec. 17, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, 506 S. Franklin St., Chagrin Falls.
