COLEBROOK TWP. – Helen J. Ewaska, age 91, died at Vista Springs, in Concord, peacefully on Oct. 2, 2019, with her family by her side.
She was the daughter of John and Stella (Biss) Stesiak born November 8, 1927 in Bridgeport, OH. Helen was married to Andrew J. Ewaska on February 15, 1947. They were married for almost 44 years.
Helen worked for Kennametal for a few years in the 1960s and was a waitress for 46 years at
Waid’s Restaurant, The Wagon Wheel and The Waynewood.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Orwell, her entire life. She was a founding member of the local VVC (Victorious Victory Club), which supported the war effort in the 40s and became a lifelong Social Club, afterwards.
Helen is survived by her four children, Andrea (John) Mokri, of South Euclid, Renee Bartkovich, of Howell, Mich., Deidre (Daniel) Larsen, of Centennial, Colo., and Darren (Lisa) Ewaska, of Chardon; eight grandchildren, Pamela (Stephen) Fakner, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Mokri, Jennifer Burhanna, Cynthia (Marcel) Arocha, Nathan Larsen, Andrew Larsen, Zachary Ewaska and Mitchell Ewaska; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Fakner, David Fakner and Lucy Helene Arocha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Ewaska; parents, John and Stella Stesiak; three sisters, Sophie Boone, Verna Baron and Natalie Calabrese, and two brothers, Alvin Stesiak and Edward Stesiak.
A funeral mass, officiated by Rev. John P. Madden and Rev. G. David Weikart, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 103 N. Maple St., Orwell.
Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at Paine Funeral Home Inc., 140 E. Main St., Orwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
