Lillian Ann Hlabse (nee Zupancic), age 83, went home to the Lord after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease on June 18, 2019. Her final days, like her life, were spent surrounded by her loving family. Lillian touched many people through her faith, perseverance, dignity and generosity.
She was born Dec. 2, 1935, in Cleveland, to Frank and Mary (nee Papesh) Zupancic.
Lillian joins her husband of 53 years, Robert Hlabse, who preceded her in death on June 11, 2009.
She was very proud of her Slovenian heritage, her Catholic faith, and above all, her family.
She is survived by her four daughters, Kim (James) Saywell, of Chardon, Lora (Michael) Cordek, of Concord Township, Jill (John) Smathers, of Cranberry Township, Pennyslvania, and Beth (Christopher) Paskey, of Concord.
She took great pride in her 11 beloved grandchildren, John, James, Allison, Thomas, Robert, Katherine, Andrew, Lauren, Mark, Brian and Grace; and her namesake great-granddaughter, Liliana.
Friends and family will be received from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2019, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9935 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Mentor. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
