MONTVILLE TWP. – Hazel H. Humpal (nee Fox), age 81, of Montville Township, passed away surrounded by family on June 9, 2019, at Blossom Hill. She was born to Henry and Tynne Mary (nee Hakala) Fox on July 31, 1937.
Hazel, her eight siblings and parents lived on a dairy farm in Monroe Township in Ashtabula County. She went to Monroe Elementary School until eight grade, then went to Conneaut High School, graduating in 1956.
Hazel was active in serving the 4-H, the Grange and went to the Methodist Church in Monroe Center. She moved to Cleveland and worked at the Diamond Alkali and in finance for two years.
On Nov. 8, 1958, Hazel married Edward James Humpal. They lived in Lakewood, Conneaut and settled in Montville. Hazel became a homemaker when they started their family of five children.
She was active in the Montville Fire Department Ladies Group and the Lady’s Group at St. Patrick Church in Thompson. Hazel was also the assistant leader of the Montville Brownie Girl Scout Troop of 28 girls.
In her free time she liked to garden, craft, sew, square dance, read and listen to country music.
Survivors include her husband; children Colette Monda, Stephen Humpal, Christopher Humpal and Jacinda Fox; grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron, Amanda and Shelby; great-grandchildren, Jadyn, Sienna and Sierra; and brother Henry Fox.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Nathan Humpal; and siblings, Dorothy, Marion, Ruth, Omar, Robert, Bill and Edward.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date.
