Melvin M. May died on May 8, 2019, at Heather Hill Nursing Home at the age of 79. To the very end he kept his sense of humor, his love of basketball (particularly the Cavs) and his desire to spend time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marjorie May.
He is survived by his children, Debra Dudinsky (William), Dawn Hauser and Mel Anthony May (Margaret); grandchildren, Ashley and Erik Dudinsky, and Andrew and Brandon Hauser; and great-grandson, Koleton Dudinsky.
Mel was a master baker who worked at numerous large and small bakeries in Northeast Ohio, retiring as the bakery manager of the Chardon Giant Eagle in 2003. As the result of his career, his family is notorious for their legendary love of sugary baked goods.
Mel was above all a devoted husband who provided loving care to his wife at the end of her life, seldom leaving her side. After her death last year, he bravely faced a new life alone and did his best to live as she would have wanted him to do. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
At his request, there will be no public memorial service or burial.
