NEWBURY TWP. – Paul E. Wilkes, age 80, of Newbury Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Feb. 15, 2016, at Holly Hill Nursing Home.
Born April 30, 1935, in Red House, W. Va., to John A. and Mildred E. (nee Stewart) Wilkes, he had been a 50-plus-year Newbury resident.
Paul served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
Ever an entrepreneur, Paul started Able Tree Service, Hi-Lite Maintenance Inc., The Flag Store and Claridon Barns. He enjoyed working and was always busy.
Paul attended Grace Evangelical Bible Church, in Newbury, with his wife.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sandra (nee Newsom) Wilkes, of Newbury; children, David (Tammy) Wilkes, of Newbury, and Mona (Rick) Oetting, of Purlear, N.C.; grandchildren, Brandon Wilkes, of Bryan, Ohio, Shawn Wilkes (deceased), of Newbury, David P. Wilkes Jr., of Newbury, and Caitlin (Clinton) Rose, of Orwell; great-granddaughter, Carmen Ella Rose, of Orwell; and brother Gary (Brenda) Wilkes, of Middlefield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers John and James Wilkes.
There will be a private burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery per Paul’s request.
