CHARDON TWP. – Shirley M. Murray (nee Ketchion), age 91, of Chardon Township, died Oct. 3, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Feb. 27, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., to the late George and Hazel (nee Norris) Ketchion, she lived the majority of her life in Bainbridge Township before moving to Chardon Township.
She had a passion for baking, especially for her family and friends, and she enjoyed sewing and ceramics.
Her greatest joy was being a mom and grandma.
Shirley was primarily a homemaker, but did spend some time as a receptionist in a medical office after her children were grown.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Carole) Murray, of Boca Raton, Fla., Laurie (John) Metzko, of Mantua, and Kim (Bill) Hupp, of Chardon Township; grandchildren, Russell Murray, of California, Christopher (Josie) Boyd, of Mantua, Timothy (Alexandra) Metzko, of Bainbridge, Kazmer and Zachary Hupp, of Chardon Township; and great-grandchild, Dakota Boyd.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie Bayer-Saumers; and her husband of 61 years, Robert.
Memorial service will be held Oct. 20, 2018, at 2 p.m., at Mantua Center Christian Church, 4118 State Route 82, Mantua.
