MIDDLEFIELD TWP. – Gerald “Jerry” M. Reed, of Middlefield Township, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 84.
Jerry was born in Warren, on Nov. 12, 1931, to the late Robert and Ottilie (nee Young) Reed.
He retired from Ohio Rubber in Willoughby after 34 years, working as a color matcher in the lab. He then became a security officer at KraftMaid Cabinetry for 14 years, before fully retiring to spend more time with his loving wife, Beverly, and family.
Jerry was an active member at Lighthouse UMC in Claridon Township and enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and traveling on Anderson Bus Tours.
He will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Beverly (nee Nece) Reed; children, Barbara (Hugh) Mason, William “Bill” (Lynn) Reed, Connie (James) Korby and Kevin (Joy) Reed; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers Wayne (Dorothy) Reed and Fritz Reed; sister-in-laws, Ann Reed and Althea Reed; and many friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Beverly (nee Ritchey) Reed; one great-grandchild; four brothers; and four sisters.
A memorial service will be announced soon at Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 14780 Mayfield Road, East Claridon.
Interment will take place in Middlefield Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Jerry’s honor to Lighthouse United Methodist Church.
