James L. Mausser, age 69, beloved husband of Janette (Annis) (nee Leduc); loving father of Jesse and Amanda Hillman (husband Seth); devoted grandfather of Alicia and Evan; cherished son of Adele (nee Zlatkauckas) and the late Leo; dearest brother of Colin, Leon (wife Paula) and the late John; and dear uncle and great uncle.
James was born on Jan. 29, 1948, and passed away on March 4, 2017. He was a resident of Florida for 20 years, previously of Chardon.
James was a former parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chardon.
He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1966 and attended Kent State University.
James was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, serving with the 173rd Airborne Rangers.
He was employed as a machinist for Lincoln Electric.
James enjoyed golfing and fishing and listening to classic rock, and was a Browns and Indians fan.
His family remembers James as loving, generous, and having a good sense of humor. James loved animals and never met a baby or puppy that he didn’t love.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of James to Orlando VA Medical Center Hospice, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando, FL 32827.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. March 20 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of James at the church March 20 from 9-10 a.m.
