CLARIDON TWP. – Iona J. Kronk, age 85, of Claridon Township, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at her home.
Iona was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Chardon, to William and Addie (nee Smith) Peck.
She graduated from Chardon High School, in 1949, attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing and worked as an RN before joining her husband at Claridon Center Garage, a GMC Truck Dealership from 1961-1988.
Iona Jean Peck married Kenneth Kronk, in Chardon, on Dec. 28, 1957.
Iona was an active member of Claridon Congregational Church, served on the Geauga County Fair Board for 20 years and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Along with Ken they owned and operated Houston Lake Camp, a hunting and fishing resort located in Northern Ontario. She was affectionately known as the “Chief Cook and Bottle Washer.” She shared that love of Houston Lake Camp with her family and guests, both during her working years and later in her retirement.
Survivors include her son, David (Phyllis) Kronk; daughter, Karen (Luke) Randall; grandchildren, Janet Kronk, Laura Kronk, Joshua Randall and Nathan Randall; great-grandchildren, Aiden Kronk, Trevor Deane and Cooper Randall; sister, Leona Johnson, of Vancouver, Wash.; and her black lab, Sam.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; brothers, Neal, Don and Dean Peck; and sisters, Mildred Welch and Catherine Tagum.

Visitation is 10-11 a.m. Feb. 25 at Claridon Congregational Church, 13942 Mayfield Road, Huntsburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at the church, with burial to follow at Claridon Center Cemetery.
