MIDDLEFIELD – Esther (nee Chadwick) Jacobs, age 92, a homemaker, of Middlefield, died on Jan. 14, 2017, at Briar Hill Care Center in Middlefield.
Born Dec. 5, 1924, in Columbiana, to Harry and Bernice (nee Bosworth) Chadwick, she has been a lifelong area resident.
Esther enjoyed golfing, volunteered at Geauga Regional Hospital and was involved in various churches in the area.
Esther Chadwick married Paul C. Jacobs on June 12, 1948, in Mantua. He preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2005.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Alan) Frigy, of Decatur, Ill., Susan (David) Ward, of Burton, Paula (John) Meesig, of Lakewood, and Debra (Mike) Thomas, of Zainesville; grandchildren Rebecca (Paul) Romine and Mark Frigy, Erin (John) Katricak and Collin (Rachel) Ward; five great-grandchildren; and sister Irene Havas, of Maryland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Dene Taylor and Louise Hoskin; brother, Glenn; and grand-daughter Shannon Ward.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
A private family burial will take place at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Center.
