Michael Justin Keane, age 74, passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, 2016.
He was born in Detroit, Mich., on Dec. 17, 1941, and grew up in Erie, Pa., where he graduated from Cathedral Prep High School in 1959.
Mike attended Gannon College, in Erie, before graduating from St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore, Md., in 1967. He then graduated from Georgetown University Law Center, in 1974, and practiced law with the U.S. Department of Justice, first in Washington, D.C., and then in Cleveland, until his retirement in 2006.
Mike had a gracious heart, a patient manner and a dry Irish wit.
Aside from spending time with his four children, David (wife, Erin), Tricia (husband, John), Sean (girlfriend, Ali) and Mikey (wife, Megan); and 3.5 grandchildren, Brendan, Isabella, Maya and baby coming soon, few things brought him more joy than getting a giant load of dirt or gravel delivered to the house for one of his many outdoor projects.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Mike is survived by his brothers, Tom (wife, Sandy) Davis and Allan (wife, Laurie) Davis; sister, Sue (husband, Nick) Savino; and his devoted wife, Dorothy, who has been by his side and in his heart for over 44 years.
His love for his family was second only to his love for peanut butter and Vernors. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Dec. 6 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
A funeral mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at Mary’s Church, 401 North St., Chardon.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Mike’s honor to the Cleveland Food Bank.
