James C. Kimmel

THOMPSON TWP. – James “Jimmy” C. Kimmel, age 73, of Thompson Township, passed away Nov. 2, 2016, at his home.

Born Dec. 5, 1942, in Poland, to Robert and Rose (nee Carman) Kimmel, he had been a longtime area resident.

Jimmy served in the Ohio National Guard, from 1965 to 1973, and worked for Carlisle Corp., Western Reserve Office Supply and Ace Hardware, in Chardon.

He enjoyed fishing, especially in the fall for steelhead.

He was a member of the Brigade of the American Revolution and participated in American Revolution Reenactments.

Jimmy was a very supportive and active father in his son and daughter’s lives. He was always there giving a helping hand from the Boy Scouts of America with his son along with baseball, softball, football, dance and cheerleading with his daughter. He never missed any event.

He taught both to fish, camp and the love the outdoors.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lisa (nee LeMaster), of Thompson; children, Jessica (Luke) Veon, of Geneva, and Aaron (Kelly), of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Jackson, Sadie and Lincoln Veon, and Vincent Kimmel; sister Susy (John) Mayberry, of Poland, Ohio; and brother-in-law, John Lewis, of Canfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Nancy Lewis.

Private family services were held.

Donations suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Cleveland or Wounded Warriors Project.
