Shannon L. Young, 57, passed away Oct. 3, 2024. She was born in Hammond, Ind., to Evan and Patricia Liechty.
Shannon spent her youth in Chardon before moving to Stow. She was a 1985 graduate of Chardon High School and went on to attend Kent State University.
Shannon has been an employee of Huntington Bank for the past 25 years.
She loved spending time with her family, rescuing animals, kayaking, hiking, traveling and going to concerts.
For anyone who knew Shannon, they know she was nurturing, adventurous and selfless, and was the light of any room she walked into. Her warm personality made people gravitate toward her and she welcomed every single person she met with open arms.
She loved growing up in the country and swimming and playing games with the neighborhood kids and being outdoors with her parents and siblings.
Shannon’s whole world revolved around her three children, and she would do anything for them. She was the glue of her whole family, and always made sure everyone got together every few weeks to create more memories.
She was able to mark almost everything off her life bucket list, including going to Switzerland with her brother and sister last summer, adopting an old dog in need, and completing a 20-mile hike for the third time, just two weeks ago.
Preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Barbara Coble, and nephew, Sean Howard, she is survived by her children, Alexander, Joshua and Sydney Young; parents, Evan and Patricia Liechty; siblings, Jennifer Howard and Scott (Maureen) Liechty; nieces and nephews Anna, Jessica, Patrick, Max, Samantha and Kimmy; father-in-law, Mike Coble; and lifelong friends, Cindy Ziernicki and Amy Harbak-Saltz.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024, at the Clifford- Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, where a memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10.
