Jayeson Edward Babic, 42, of Chagrin Falls, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Aug. 29, 2024.

Jayeson was born to Kim Roth and William Babic, in Geneva, Ohio, on Oct. 14, 1981. He grew up in Thompson Township and Saybrook , where he and his brother, Jonathan, engaged in shenanigans with his lifelong friends and cousins, Ronnie and Jessica Brehm.

Jayeson was a three-sport varsity athlete at Ledgemont and Ashtabula high schools, where he participated on the football, wrestling and baseball teams.

He attended Case Western Reserve University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in business management and finance. He was also a catcher for the baseball team at Case.

Jayeson married his high school sweetheart, Melissa (nee Larkin) Babic, in 2003. Jayeson and Melissa welcomed their children, Emma Babic, in 2004, and Jackson “JJ” Babic, in 2008.

After spending 12 years in North Carolina, the Babic family moved back to Ohio in 2021. Jayeson found joy in physical fitness and competed in countless marathons and triathlons, including an Iron Man competition.

He enjoyed preparing delicious meals on the smoker, cheering on his children in their various sports and activities, fishing and golfing with friends, and observing Festivus with his family on Dec. 23 each year.

Jayeson was a devoted fan of all Cleveland sports teams and loved enjoying games with his family and friends. He loved a good hoppy beer from Great Lakes Brewing Company with a nice cigar and searching for a rare find at a flea market.

Jayeson was well-known and respected in the construction industry, where he worked as an Operations Manager for Baker Construction. His work ethic and leadership made him a valued member of the Baker team. Some of his more recent jobs included the Sherwin Williams building in Cleveland and the new Buffalo Bills Stadium in New York.

Jayeson leaves a legacy of faith, family and humor. He will be remembered for his leadership, kindness, generosity in helping others, and his ability to find the correct Seinfeld quote for every occasion. He was also well-versed in Ancient Aliens and Finding Bigfoot trivia.

Jayeson is survived by his loving wife, Melissa (nee Larkin) Babic, of Chagrin Falls; children, Emma and JJ Babic; mother, Kim Roth, of Thompson; brother, Jonathan (Kathy) Babic, of Berea; sister, Amy (Jeff) McNiel, of Mentor; grandmother, Carolyn Robison, of Thompson; grandfather, Jack (Frannie) Roth, of Madison; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

His father, William Babic; grandfather, Paul (Danny) Robison; and grandparents, Ed and Marion Babic, preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will take place Sept. 21, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Fellowship City Church Chagrin Campus, 16391 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township.

If friends desire, contributions can be made to a trust fund for Jayeson’s children in lieu of flowers. Donations received at https://www.gofundme.com/f/donations-in-memory-of-jayeson-babic.
