Michael B. Cavell, aged 79, of Willowick, peacefully passed away on Feb. 19, 2024, surrounded by the love of his devoted sister and niece.
He was born on Jan. 16, 1945, in Cleveland, to Benjamin Wallace and Jeanette (nee Walker) Cavell.
Michael’s life was a testament to love, kindness and cherished moments with family and friends. He loved the Cleveland Indians, before they became the Guardians.
Michael’s playful spirit shone brightest during the dice game LCR, where he cunningly won everyone’s money, and losing was never an option to him in checkers.
Among his favorite pastimes was sharing a cold one with his nephew Scott, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Michael had a deep appreciation for music, with a special fondness for the iconic sounds of the Beatles.
He enjoyed being with loved ones, embracing every opportunity to gather for parties and celebrations. He enjoyed dancing, especially on Christmas Eve with his niece Trish.
He will be greatly missed and memories of him will always be cherished.
Michael leaves behind his son Larry Cavell; and siblings, Doris (Cooney) Cavell, of Willowick, Ben (Cathy) Cavell, of Bandera, Texas, and Sharon Thome, of Sarasota, Fla.
Michael was a cherished uncle and great-uncle to many, leaving an indelible mark on each life he touched.
He was preceded in death by his son Joseph Cavell; parents; and sister, Carol Cavell.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the visitation on Feb. 24, 2024, from 9-10 a.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., with burial to follow at Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
The family suggests donations be made to Deepwood Foundation, c/o Broadmoor School, 8121 Deepwood Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060, www.deepwoodfoundation.org, in memory of Michael’s generosity of kindness and compassion.
