Helen H. Scheuring, age 83, died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2023, at Heather Hill Care Communities. She lived her last 20 years in Hambden Township.
She was born to Donaldson and Wilma (nee Harvey) Gibbs on April 12, 1940, in Greene Township, Ohio. She was a 1959 graduate of Green High School.
Helen’s life knew both joy and sorrow. She was married to her first husband, Robert L. Gunther Jr., from 1960 until his tragic death in 1967. Finding love again, she married Timothy Scheuring in 1969, sharing a life filled with love until his passing in 1999. Through the highs and lows, Helen’s strength and resilience remained unwavering.
Known for her generous spirit, Helen dedicated much of her time to volunteering. Whether it was with the Farm Bureau, FFA, The Great Geauga County Fair and Hambden Township Zoning, she was always willing to lend a helping hand, leaving a lasting impact on those around her.
Helen is survived by her loving family, two sons, Arthur (Drew Ann) Gunther, of Chardon, and Alvin Gunther, of Pittsboro, N.C.; three grandchildren, Richard (Jenn) Gunther, Robert (Alicia) Gunther and Jodi (Ben) Marsh; five great-grandchildren, Weston, Brentley, Lucas, Jocelyn and Lillian; two sisters, Claudia Reel and Kay Gibbs; and five brothers, Loyd, Grover, Ralph, Milo and Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Robert L. Gunther, Jr.; second husband, Timothy Scheuring; and brother John Gibb.
Private graveside service and burial will be held this spring (2024) at Maple Grove Cemetery in Andover, Ohio.
She will be deeply missed.
