Tamara Malkova Klimova

Tamara Malkova Klimova (Babushka Tama), age 92 years, born Feb. 12, 1931, passed away on Aug. 26, 2023, at Holly Hill Nursing Home in Newbury Township surrounded by family.

Tamara was born and raised in St. Petersburg, USSR, then moved to Odessa to attend university and taught English there for several years. This is where she also met Vladimir, who she went on to marry and raise a family together.

She went on to work on cruise ships on the Black Sea until 1976. During the Cold War, she used her resourcefulness leaving everything behind to escape Russia and move her family to the United States in 1978. They eventually settled in Cleveland, where she and Vladimir started a photography business, Odessa Photo Labs, which they ran together for 25 years.

She was active with her church, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox, for many years.

Being a grandmother and great grandmother was one of Tamara’s biggest joys and she loved her family dearly.

Mother of Tatiana Dilley and beloved grandmother/babushka of Natalie Dilley, Nicole (James) Mahany, James Dilley, Robert Dilley, Katherine Zurney and Alexander Klimov. Beloved great-grandmother of Lydia Dilley, Leo Dilley and William Mahany.

Preceded in death by beloved husband, Vladimir Klimov; son, Sergey Klimov; father, Vasily Malkov; and mother, Lydia Malkova.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 7, 2023, at Knollwood Cemetery, 1678 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Heights.
