Evelyn Irene Johnson, of Sharpsburg, Ga., passed away Aug. 9, 2023, at 11:15 a.m. She was one of eight children born to Lawrence and Edith Hall.
Born in Burghill, Ohio, on Feb. 13, 1926, she was raised by her Aunt Abigail Overmoyer in Williamsfield, Ohio, after the passing of her mother when she was 6 years old.
Evelyn had seven siblings who have all passed as well. Her parents, Lawrence and Edith Collum Hall, are buried in the Williamsfield Community Cemetery.
Her husband, Lloyd S. Johnson, whom she married in 1954, is buried with her in Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
Her children are Edith Garvich (Jim), of Georgia, Frederick Hunter (Jeanie), of Chardon, and Gary Hunter(Patricia), of Rome, Ohio. Step-daughter, Louise Simmons (deceased), Florida, and Marilyn Mayor, of Texas.
She also leaves 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by her friends at the Cottage Hill Methodist Church, in Florida, Cokes Chapel Methodist Church in Sharpsburg, Ga., and extended family in many states.
She is remembered as a beautician for more than 25 years in the Chardon area, an artist in her retired life, a firecracker her entire life and a loyal friend.
The funeral services and burial will be held at Pensacola Memorial Garden on Aug. 17, 2023.
