Irene May Hein

Irene May Hein, age 91, of Auburn Township, passed away May 5, 2023, at David Simpson Hospice House, where she was able to say her goodbyes over several good days to her loving family and friends.

She was the beloved wife of the late William Hein Sr. for 67 years; loving mother of Sharon (William) O’Donnell, William Jr. (Linda), Randolph (Diane) and the late Barbara (William) Timmons; dearest grandmother of 10 and great- grandmother of 17; dear sister of Shirley (Tom) Mahoney, Virginia (late John) Kolinsky, Roxina (late Paul) Beach and of the late Harry (Rose) Frost, late Glen (late June) Frost, late Ronald Frost; and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was born Aug. 1, 1931, in South Newbury, Geauga County, to the late Foster and late Violette (nee Ritter) Frost.

Irene married her husband, Bill, on June 16, 1950, in Angola, Ind. They moved to Bainbridge Township in 1950 and, in 2017, moved to Auburn to live with their son Bill and daughter-in-law Linda.

Irene retired from Kenston Schools, where she worked as head cook for over 25 years.

She was a dedicated member of Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ.

Irene taught sewing for the 4-H Club for many years, enjoyed square dancing with HUBS Square Dancing Club and spending time with her friends at the Bainbridge Senior Center.

Funeral services will be held May 20, 2023, at Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ, 17751 Chillicothe Road, at 10 a.m.

Interment to follow at Restland Cemetery, Bainbridge. A cake and cookies reception to follow at the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions made to Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ, 17751 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023; Bainbridge Area Food for Friends, 17826 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023; The Bainbridge Senior Center, 12611 Ravenwood Drive, Chardon, OH 44024; or Building Homes for Heroes, 4854 Austin Blvd., Island Park, N.Y. 11558.
