Eleanor A. Adams, age 88, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, at her home on July 20, 2016.
She was born on March 24, 1928, in Thompson Township, the daughter of the late Gaius and Lucy (nee Garcia) Jones.
Ellie was a graduate (and salutatorian) of Mesopotamia High School’s class of 1947. During that time, she loved roller skating and riding the rollercoaster at Geauga Lake.
She married her husband, Clifton “Squeak” Adams, on Valentine’s Day in 1948 and spent 42 years together until his death in 1990.
Ellie retired from Chardon Rubber Company, where she worked as a machine operator for 43 years. Her work ethic was beyond compare.
Some may remember seeing Ellie’s smiling face at places such as Grandview, Major Discount, Middlefield Hardware and Arby’s. She loved to work with the public and did so until the very end, working at Pizza Hut as well as completing 15 years of service at Dollar General.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Middlefield, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, taking trips to the beach, shopping and reading romance novels.
She took pride in her home and loved to mow her own lawn. She was also an avid collector of elephants and Native American memorabilia.
Eleanor was a loving mother to two sons, Dennis Adams, of Burton, and Thomas (Teresa Snyder) Adams, of Middlefield; and a daughter, Deborah (Dennis) Davis, of Cortland.
Eleanor will also be missed by her brothers Donald Jones, of Lady Lakes, Fla., Gaius (Joyce) Jones, of Bristolville, Robert Jones, of Warren, and Edwin (Jean) Jones, of Kent; sister Mary Hnath, of Kent; sister-in-law Geraldine Adams, of Madison; grandchildren, April Adams, Nichol (Scott) Morrison, Stephanie (Justin Oviatt) Adams, Iain Adams, Cierra Davis, Cheyenne Pistilli, Antoinette Davis and Bella Davis; great-grandchild, Greyson Oviatt; and three step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
