Grace Marie DiDomenico (nee Sgro), age 80, passed away peacefully on Dec. 4, 2022.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1942, to John and Louise Sgro. She grew up in the Cleveland area and later became a schoolteacher at Patrick Henry Grade School.
Grace then became a counselor for Shaker Heights Schools Board of Education. She and Louis met and married in 1980. Students and staff referred to her as “Mrs. D.”
Grace and Lou resided in Beachwood and, upon Grace’s retirement, resided in Chardon.
She was the co-owner and manager, with Louis, at the Heritage Hills Campground in Thompson Township.
Grace lived her Catholic faith daily. She was involved in St. Mary’s prayer line and many other ministries.
She will be missed by many loyal friends and her beloved companions, Mamma Kitty, Miss Grey and Four Socks.
She is survived by her husband, Louis, of 42 years; siblings, Annette (Tony) Pizzino, Louise (Charles) Russo; nieces and nephew, Marianne, Diane (Roland), Christine, John (Cristi), Joanne and Julie (Kurt); great-nieces and great-nephews, Julie, Elizabeth, Michael and Daniel.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Josephine (Tom) LoCastro; and two nephews, Anthony and Tommy.
Family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11 a.m. A luncheon will follow at the church.
A private family burial will be held at All Souls Cemetery.
