MIDDLEFIELD – Michael E. Brilla III, 70, of Middlefield, passed away July 14, 2016, with his family by his side.
He was born in Chardon on April 13, 1946, the only child of Michael Jr. and Eleanor S. (nee Novy) Brilla.
Michael married Delores “Jean” Edwards on Feb. 4, 1967, in Parkman Township.
He worked for Caterpillar Tractor, was an inspector at TRW, Argo-Tech, Marine Mechanical and then B & W in Euclid, retiring in 2013.
A lifelong resident of Geauga County, Michael was a member of NRA, U.A.W. Local 790 and 2262; and member of the Boy Scouts, was a leader and volunteered at Camp Stigwandish as a rifle range instructor.
He also taught hunter safety classes.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and NASCAR.
Mike also loved to read.
He will be missed by his family and friends, including his wife of 49 years; three children, Michael IV (Cindy) Brilla, of Burton, Michelle Vidal, of Middlefield, and Tom (Bonnie) Brilla, of Parkman; seven grandchildren, Michael V and Ashley Brilla, Nikki, Tyler and Marissa Vidal, and Nicholas and Erica Brilla; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexis, Braydon, Caylie, Amber, Natalie, Gunnar and Brantley.
His parents preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Autism Speaks or Spinal Bifida Association, which touched two of his grandchildren.
As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Sunday, July 24 at Troy Community Park, 13950 Main Market Road, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dress is casual.
