Heather Hodgins Spikes Henderson

Heather Hodgins Spikes Henderson, age 81, passed away with her husband and family at her side on Feb. 21, 2022, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township.

She was the daughter of the late Florence Viola and Wesley Hodgins.

Heather was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and vacationing with her husband, Hal, especially being near the water. They have treasured memories of trips to the Florida panhandle, Penobscot Bay in Maine and the Clarion River in Pennsylvania. They also took several cross country road trips to the West coast to see Hal’s sister, Gloria, making stops at national parks and to visit friends and family.

Heather liked to crochet and quilt, and made many baby blankets as gifts. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she loved being a generous gift-giver. She also loved her gin and tonics and was a skilled cook known for her signature dishes of homemade baked beans and strawberry /banana Jello salad.

A graduate of Brush High School, in Lyndhurst, Heather spent her career in the accounting department at TRW.

Besides being an expert at Sudoku puzzles, she was an avid reader, jigsaw puzzler, bird watcher and a volunteer for the Geauga County Department of Aging’s Home Delivered Meals program.

Heather is survived by her loving husband, Hal; children, Johnny Spikes (Tommie), Ronnie Spikes and Connie Spikes; brother, Robert Hodgins; stepchildren, Joy (Phil) Henderson, Gay (Steve) Eyerman and Ann (Mary) Henderson.

She dearly loved her grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah, Heather, Josh, Rebecca and Cassidy; step-grandchildren, Vant, Rheta (Doug), Joseph, Louis, Rose, Peter and Sophie; and step-great-grandson, Hudson.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, with a service to follow immediately afterward at 12 noon at the funeral home.

The family suggests donations in Heather’s memory be made to Geauga County Department of Aging’s Home Delivered Meals program, 470 Center St., Bldg. 2, Chardon, OH 44024.
