CHARDON – Alice Josephine Meade (nee Gentry), age 88, of Chardon, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2020, at Mapleview Country Villa.
She was born May 5, 1931, to Isaac Alvin and Grace Virginia (nee Lovins) Gentry, in Kermit, W. Va.
Josephine married her high school sweetheart, Carrol L. Meade, on Oct. 2, 1948, in Inez, Ky. He was the captain of the basketball team and she was the homecoming queen.
She enjoyed reading, writing poetry and gardening. She volunteered for many different organizations over the years.
She was very proud that her husband Carrol and she built their home on Hall Road together in 1956.
Josephine is survived by her children, Deborah K. Smith, of Chardon, Dennis I. (Ruth) Meade, of Huron, and Caryngae (Ralph) Page, of Chardon; grandchildren, Carrie A. (Rick Whepley) Stokes, Darcy (Jason) Bishop, Ralph Page Jr., Melissa Page, Dameon (Jackie) Keller, Jason (Mindy) Meade, Ericka (Bruce) Casagrande, Brian (Ashley) Meade, Aubrey (Brett) Bergeron and Sarah (Adam) Robbins; 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Beloved sister to Beulah (Pete) M. Johnston, Annie (Bill) Harp, John Gentry, Roy (Marie) Gentry Sr. and Isaac A. Gentry Jr.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carrol, who died on March 14, 2006; siblings Dolly Billings, George W. Gentry, Billy L. Gentry, Bobby R. Gentry, Lois A. Roark and Jackie D. Gentry; and son-in-law, Dale Smith.
