BURTON – Charles A. Rates Jr., 62, of Burton, formerly of Brownsville, Pa., passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer Thursday morning, March 12, 2020, at Blossom Hill Health Care, Huntsburg Township.
He was born in Republic, Pa., on April 20, 1957, to the late Charles A. and Elvera Libertini Rates Sr.
Charlie was a dear father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need. He lived his life to the fullest and enjoyed motorcycles, muscle cars and bringing love and laughter to his family and friends.
He traveled the country in his trucking days while working for Blair Cartage, KY Hylton & Son, and Arms Trucking.
In his later years, Charlie became an accomplished golfer.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved daughter, Colette (Jeff) Germek; grandchildren, Cameron and Sarah; sister, Kate (Bill) Rowe; nephew, Thomas Rates; niece, Brandi Rates; his special uncle, Lewis Libertini; and several cousins and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Cynthia Rates.
