Gail Joy Smith

BURTON – Gail Joy (nee Miller) Smith, 59, a lifelong resident of Burton, went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on July 14, 1960, Gail was a graduate of Berkshire High School and married Frank Smith on July 25, 1992. They owned and operated Newbury Tire for 25 years.

She was a sports enthusiast, with a true love for the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. She loved decorating and repurposing furniture.

Gail lived for spending time with her family and friends. She will be truly missed.

Gail is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Smith, of 27 years; her sisters and brothers, Elizabeth (David) Brazofsky, Ervin (Cheryl) Miller, Ida Mae Miller, Rhoda Blough, Mark (Karen) Miller, Lois (David) Tiber, Loren (MaryAnn) Miller and Sharon (James) Horvath; 29 nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mahlon and Sara (nee Yoder) Miller; brother-in-law, Ronald Blough; and sister-in-law, Lugene Breedlove.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020, at Maple View Church, 14890 Burton Windsor Road, Burton.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020, at Maple View Church.
